Speech and Language Therapists assess, diagnose and treat children and adults with a wide range of communication difficulties, both developmental and acquired. The profession welcomes people from a wide range of backgrounds, but you must have excellent communication skills and an interest in applying scientific principles to the management of communication disorders. This course leads to a professional qualification as a speech and language therapist. On this course you will develop strong practical skills alongside a sound understanding of the theory of speech and language therapy. A wide range of teaching and assessment methods is used and theoretical knowledge is integrated and applied through regular placements. Clinical work is underpinned by modules in linguistics, psychology, biological and medical sciences and research methods.
