This course is one of the broadest reaching humanities degrees, drawing from a range of disciplines and debates to allow you to build a well-rounded understanding of religion as a force in shaping society. You will be introduced to the works of history’s most influential thinkers, from Augustine and Aquinas to Marx and Freud. You will also explore a rich selection of religious texts and practices, spanning continents and millennia. Your studies will be facilitated by our expert staff, in lectures and seminars which are largely informal in nature to catalyse debate and discussion in a supportive and engaging environment. You will also have access to outstanding facilities supporting your independent study, with extensive resources including our dedicated Manuscript and Special Collections Archive.
