This new and distinctive programme is offered in addition to our BA Modern Languages programme. The MLang leads to a full masters award and gives you the same choice and flexibility as our BA programmes, together with a full year abroad. It also has the same funding options. Combining German with Spanish gives you the opportunity of studying two influential European cultures and their hugely important languages. Studying Spanish and German at Southampton offers you real insights into the cultures and societies of the larger Spanish and German speaking worlds, and sharpens your understanding of their commonalities and differences.
Modern languages at Southampton is ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of our research (REF 2014). Teaching and learning is supported by three research centres, Transnational Studies, Global Englishes and Applied Language Research.
