This hands-on degree course was designed in collaboration with industry and will enable you to develop the skills required to be an effective events practitioner. You will undertake a range of diverse work placements and organise your own live events from concept and planning through to execution and post-event evaluation. You will also gain knowledge of event theory and key practice and principles, providing you with a solid foundation on which to begin your career in the events industry. As part of our work-ready guarantee, you will develop key industry skills such as blogging, building a professional online profile and responding to a creative brief. Previous students have worked on projects with companies including Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, Life, Oxfam and Tyne and Wear Museums. We have collaborated with a variety of organisations to provide our students with extensive work experience. Past placements have included work with Beamish Museum, Alnwick Playhouse, Juice Festival, Enchanted Parks and Marriot Hotels. Many of our students are now working within the events sector as well as the leisure and travel industries. You’ll graduate with the skills to work in a variety of events roles within these sectors and could also choose to enhance your skills by progressing onto our one-year BA (Hons) Creative Enterprise (Top-Up) degree.
