This course instils the scientific and entrepreneurial skills required to develop products and businesses, and to take advantage of the exciting opportunities available in the expanding UK equine industry. After a generic year one, you will be able to tailor your learning to reflect a business or science emphasis, whilst gaining relevant vocational skills and industry contacts during a 20-week work placement in the second year which enhances and develops key transferable skills. In conjunction with University staff, students are encouraged to organise placements that extend their current skill set, and align with career goals. These opportunities are viewed very favourably by potential employers and provide the chance to experience real organisational life at first hand. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity to develop a range of links within the growing equine industry. There are optional modules in the final year to allow for specialisms within equine science or business. Some practical experience and knowledge of horses is essential prior to joining the programme.
